Bio degradable – environmental friendly

A bio degradable product, in time, degrades to his natural base. There are several test methods like B.O.D. (biological oxygen demand) and C.O.D.(chemical oxygen demand), the CEC L 31-A-93  method etc.

An environmental friendly product does not harm or harms nature and men less then traditional products. These might be products that do not or just partly bio degrade, but or non toxic and do not mix with water.

Attention: BIO DEGRADABLE ≠ SAFE

Take ethanol. It is bio degradable, it is often distilled from grains and fruits, and we can drink it ( beer, wine, gin ). But the flash point of alcohol is lower then 40°C, this is comparable with white-spirit or light kerosene.

Nowadays products  like gasoline and  kerosene are no longer used for VRC release agents. For the “standard” and the “silver” line, VRC only uses mineral solvents and base oils, free of aromatics and with  high flash points.  These products might be less biodegradable than vegetable oils, but they are much safer than the old diesel en kero based products.

For the “gold” line, only vegetable oils are used.

V.O.C. (volatile organic compounds)

V.O.C. contain components who are responsible for air pollution. They are often used in concrete release agents. Van Raak Chemicals developed the “Silver” and “Gold” line products. Both are V.O.C. free.
